About Gospel Outbound

Greetings,

Gospel Outbound is a U.S. Christian non-profit corporation started in 1997—our first nine years of ministry included partnering with Guatemalan, Myanmar (Burmese), and Indian ministries.

In 2006, God gave us a divine directive to shift our foreign focus to missions training and sending in Uganda, Africa. In 2008, we partnered with Gospel Outbound Africa and have since expanded our work into South Sudan.

About missions in this area, a quote from the renowned missions prayer resource, Operation World, highlights the significance of God’s calling to catalyze missions in this area. They report: “Missions Vision in the Ugandan Church –  A large, strong church that has endured suffering, combined with Uganda’s geographical position next to several needy nations, make mission potential enormous. But this potential is still largely untapped due to lack of awareness and structures. Few Ugandan cross-cultural ministries exist…”

How important and exciting is it to be called to be part of waking up a country to its Great Commission mandate to the nations? But Uganda cannot do this alone. It will take a partnership with Western Christians and their great blessings and resources to help thrust this movement forward.

Because our Lord Jesus instructs us to care for the poor, we also pay school fees for orphans in Uganda and South Sudan, provide mosquito nets in refugee camps, and empower poor families in our ministry areas through business empowerment.

God has given Gospel Outbound and our partners a critical task. I pray you will join us in this vital work.

For His glory,
Brian Wheaton
President, G.O. U.S

Why Missions?

Northern Africa is dominated by ethnic groups (biblical nations) that do not have churches capable of reaching these groups with the gospel. These are called the unreached people groups.  Jesus tells us to reach them (Mt. 28:19-20) and to be about finishing this work (Mt. 24:14). This requires Christians to GO and make disciples.

As you can see, circled on the map, Uganda is strategically located to help.

It will take indigenous partnerships, like Gospel Outbound Africa, that are physically and culturally closer and adept at living in these harsh environments, along with the input and resources of Westerner Christians, to help complete the task.

Through these partnerships, Gospel Outbound is expanding geographically through multiplying disciple-making and church-planting movements.

VISION

Our vision is to see exponentially expanding disciple-making and church-planting movements across North Africa and beyond by the power of God and for His glory.

MISSION

Through our weekly radio programming, we realize our vision by focusing on DMM Training (Disciple Making Movements) on the ground in villages and airwaves. From here, we train multiplying leaders who propagate multiplying disciples and churches. Additionally, we support orphan education and mosquito net distribution and provide training in work empowerment.

HISTORY

Gospel Outbound was founded in 1997 as a 501(c)(3) Christian missions agency to support, through finances and short-term mission trips, a ministry in the highlands of Guatemala. We expanded across the globe to include evangelistic and compassion-focused outreach in Myanmar, India, and Uganda. Most recently, our main focus has been to work with Ugandan, South Sudan, Sudan, and U.S. churches to help them engage, to a greater degree, in discipleship and ministry to the unreached and disadvantaged.

We at Gospel Outbound want to help Christians engage in their God-given mandate to “go and make disciples of all nations,” and to serve “the least of these,” the world’s hungry, sick, and underprivileged.
